TEXT: Mathew 7:24-27

In our society there are four basic institutions: the state, the school, the church, and the home. Of these four, the home is of supreme importance.

Life Living has a stage the most cruiser stage is marriage.

The home has a profound influence on the state, school, and church whether it is Christian or unchristian. When the home is genuinely Christian, the church can wield a spiritual impact on society and culture, the school can do the best possible job of stimulating the intellect, and the state is most secure from foreign invasion as well as from inward deterioration.

Because of the profound influence of the Christian home for good and because of the alarmingly high percentage of marriage failures, we need to discover the sources of strength and do all that we can to insure the success of marriage and family life.

  1. Spiritual Foundation
  2. Personal Foundation
  3. Marital Foundation
  4. Parental Foundation

The absolute most important aspect of a building is the foundation and it is true when it comes to building the home. Anything that will be established in the physical world must first be rooted and grounded in the spirit realm. Therefore, the spiritual foundation of Christian home is Christ. To build a strong Christian home, that will fulfill God’s purpose in the world, we must build it on the foundation of Christ. Hear the Apostle Paul as he instructs us about the foundation.

“Another foundation can no man lay than that which is laid which is Christ Jesus.” 1 Corinthians 3:11

Christ Jesus is the foundation upon which you can build a life, a career, a business, especially a home. When Jesus closed out the Sermon on the Mount, He focused our attention on two men, each of whom went out to build his house. One, as you remember the parable, built his house on the sand and the rains came, and the floods descended and beat upon the house and it fell, crumbled, because it was built upon sand.

The other man built his house on the rock. The solid foundation of a rock. This house was also subjected to winds, water, and rains, but it stood because it was built upon the solid foundation.

Matthew 7:24-27

Your personal life as a single is a foundation to build a Christian home. Building a Christian home has a lot to do with the kind of person you are, what you do and what you need to know as single before you start the journey of building the Christian home. What kind of person must you be,  what must you do and what do you need to know before you start the journey of marriage and  building the Christian home?

Not all wedding lead to a happy marriage. But marriage cannot be happy if it is not built on the RIGHT FOUNDATION. Most couples have no idea that the foundation of a successful marriage begins long before the wedding day. In addition, a direct by-product of the wrong foundation is that most people have no idea how to select the right mate.

A healthy marriage is the foundation of a healthy family, healthy families are foundational to healthy churches and the Church is the backbone of a society that is righteous and prosperous. The partnership between a man and a woman in matrimony, committed to one another for life, is not just a building block of society; it is essential to the structure. That is why it is absolutely essential that we understand marriage from a biblical perspective so that we can be rooted in truth when developing our own families and preparing for the future. The Word of God provides a foundation for a marriage that is both deeply fulfilling and romantic- the kind of marriage that we hope for when we say “I do”.

To build a Christian home that will stand for God, we have to train our children. How do you do that? Paul admonished parents concerning children that we are to “bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.” We are to nurture our children “in the Lord.”. We are to feed our children from the life of God that is already in our own lives, to nurture their hearts in the life of the Lord who already lives in our own hearts. That is what will lay a strong foundation for the children to build their lives in the future and a Christian home.

Parents Must Model Godliness

To build a Christian home, by necessity, parents must model godliness as a foundation for their children.

Parents Must Train Their Children in God’s Word

This is exactly what Moses commanded Israel’s parents in Deuteronomy 6:6-9.

Parents Must Discipline Their Children

Proverbs 29:15  “The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.”

Conclusively, to build a home, foundation is very essential. Similarly, to build a Christian home, solid and strong Christian foundations are very essential:

1.Spiritual Foundation: let Christ be the foundation of your life, and build a personal relationship with Him

  1. Personal Foundation: discover your purpose, know who you are and grow up
  2. Marital Foundation: keep yourself pure and holy for God, get to know your partner before marriage, build your marriage on the truth not on falsehood, be committed to your spouse and be faithful.
  3. Parental Foundation: train your children in the way of the Lord.

Thanks, God Bless You
